Android system supports FAT, FAT32, ext3, ext4 file system. If SKB would like to suport exFAT, there is extra license fee paid to Microsoft. However, NTFS file system can be supported by 3rd party app with read permission only. |
Hi Jacky, We've heard from Kerwin in today meeting that NTFS file system can be supported without installing 3rd party application by user. In other words, user doesn't need to download and install the 3rd party application for NTFS file system. If user is possible to use NTFS without doing any action such as installing 3rd pary application, we can said that our suppors FAT, FAT32, ext3, ext4, and NTFS. So we'd like to know in more detail what you mention. |

Hi Eric, We use NTFS-3G to mount NTFS file system, current version is "Version 2014.2.15". Please refer to NTFS-3G official website for more detailed. (https://www.tuxera.com/community/open-source-ntfs-3g/) |

Hi Kerwin, Thanks for your valuable comment. As far as I know, with NTFS-3G, NTFS would be possible to read and write. If that's true, we will be able to conclude that our STB supports NTFS. Could you double check if it's right? Best Regards, Eric |
Hi Eric, Yes, NTFS-3G supports read and write for NTFS file system. |
Hi Kerwin, Thanks for clarifying it. Lastly, when are you planning to integrate NTFS-3G?, already done?, if so, what is the version? |
Hi Kerwin, Because NTFS-3G is based on open source and please check it is based on which's open source license and have any concern or impact if we use it in Android TV. |
Hi Jacky and Kerwin, Thanks for your active cooperation. We have to report the final status about file system supported in Eagle to SKT. It would be grateful if you could feedback ASAP. |
First, NTFS and exFAT are technically supported in Eagle as mentioned by Kerwin. But license fee for exFAT have to further check and could you kindly check it from your side or may contact A group(FIH) to get this information? |
Hi Jacky, We need to discuss about whether to support exFAT with SKBB due to license fee, so we will let you know once we get any result. In the meantime, please check the following things. 1) As you mentioned, is there any issue to support NTFS in terms of open source license? 2) Already verified but I'd like to double check one more time - With NTFS-3G open source platform, would it be possibe to read and write on NTFS? 3) If all thing on NTFS is OK, what is the version that we can verifiy it? |
Hi Eric, Please check replies as below: 1) There should be no issue to use NTFS-3G. We only build and run as a command. 2) NTFS-3G support read and write on NTFS file system. 3) NTFS-3G is already built-in on each eagle FW. |

Hi Kerwin, Just verified it with v15.502.06, which is available to read/write on NTFS. You can close this case. |
